FAQs

How much does your stairlift cost?

Our price normally includes the equipment, installation and service warranty. The cost of shipping and taxes are also included. Low internet prices look or sound attractive, but they are far from complete. Often more important than equipment price alone is the cost of not getting the stairlift installed by a local professional. If something goes wrong and the unit stops running, how quickly and from whom can you count on for service. Count on O’Neill Stairlifts. We’re doing business in your neighborhood for 30 years.

When compared to moving, retirement residences or assisted living, stairlifts are very affordable. Exact pricing depends on features and options that fit best. This is a consultation process. Specific brands and models fit very differently. Weight capacities vary as do seat heights. We customize every installation. The skills of our advisors and installers will offer the highest confidence.

How do I choose a stairlift?

For most people today, choosing a local stairlift vendor is the safest and most reliable way to buy a stairlift. A home visit helps to determine the best fit for the user and the home. We always make a home visit prior to installation and it’s FREE!

What is your area of service?

Our services are available in all of WASHINGTON D.C, MARYLAND, VIRGINIA and much more.

Do you sell direct?

No. Although some may have the skill to attempt self install, the issue of stairlift safety is a great concern to us. We receive calls from people asking for help after they have bought online and realize it’s too difficult for the inexperienced to install. There is a great deal of information available on this topic.

AEMA (the Accessibility Equipment Manufacturers Association and NAEC (the National Association of Elevator Contractors) both strongly recommend professional installation for stairlift and residential elevator products. Please visit the link below for more information:

Does location of the company matter?

Internet companies suggest they are large or #1. They may be very far away. Some claim to have local representation. Inexperienced subcontractors often occur here. Most families need to be able to count on a good local company to respond quickly if they are reliant upon a stairlift.

Should I purchase and install my own stairlift?

Professionals within the home medical equipment industry do not recommend that people attempt to install these products themselves. They believe that in terms of warranty, long term care, and service, it is much more economical to have a trained professional install these products. In addition, these professionals are also aware of all safety measures and concerns associated with the proper installation of stairlifts, as well as the applicable local elevator codes.
